The
Scottish American History Club and Museum are part of
the Arts and Culture Division of the Illinois Saint
Andrew Society. The History Club usually meets the first
Saturday of each month (except for July, August and
December) in North Riverside, Illinois. Some change in
dates may occur in January and September because of the
holidays. Please check our events
page for dates and subjects. The meetings are open to
everyone and there is no admission charge.
The
History Club is primarily interested in Scottish people
living in Chicago and Illinois. We often focus on
members of the Saint Andrew Society but all Scots are
included especially if they have a role in the history
of our area. We may have guest speakers who have special
expertise in their historical area. Otherwise, the
meetings are chaired by Wayne Rethford, President
Emeritus of the Saint Andrew Society. The sessions are
held in Heritage Hall which is located in the lower
level of the Georgeson wing at the Scottish Home.
Contact information is available below. The lectures
begin at 10 a.m. and usually last one hour. There is
ample time to visit the museum and enjoy coffee and
scones. The museum is open from nine to noon that day
and also by special request.
